The FOALERT system is the most reliable foaling monitoring system available.
It was designed by veterinarians to detect foaling in mares but it is frequently used to monitor mares, cows, llamas, camels and alpacas. The system is very reliable and easily installed.
The system is comprised of two basic components – the transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter is sutured to the vulva 1 -2 weeks prior to the expected delivery date. When the vulva lips physically separate at birth, the actuating magnet pulls out of the transmitter. This separation activates the transmitter, which in turn activates the receiver.
Also included is the Automatic Dialer. The Automatic Dialer requires a telephone line in close proximity to the receiver. The dialer can be programmed to call up to 4 telephone and/or pager numbers when activated by the receiver. The dialer will call each number and deliver either a voice or numeric message.
