In our never ending search to preserve, promote and propagate the best bloodlines in our breed, Sugar Creek’s continuation of the bloodline of The Pusher C.G. is World Champion The Memphis Blues. This beautiful, chestnut-sabino stallion is a popular choice among knowledgeable breeders.

The Memphis Blues

Bred by TWHBEA Master Breeder Jack Gillespie, The Memphis Blues is the result of crossing two of the most successfully productive horses in our breed.

As Hall of Fame thoroughbred breeder A.B. “Bull” Hancock of Claiborne Farms fame observed, “the family is stronger than the individual.” The family of The Memphis Blues is as strong as they come.

The Memphis Blues was sired by the late Res. World Grand Champion Elvis Pusher. Elvis Pusher was bred only to a few mares before he passed and produced 12 foals, all 12 were stallions and 11 of the 12 were award winning show horses. In addition to World Champion The Memphis Blues, Elvis Pusher’s offspring include World Grand Champion Memphis Mafia, World Grand Champion Memphis Raines, Motown’s Undercover Boss and I’m Johnny Lee both Top 5 finishers at The Celebration as Two Year Olds. Elvis Pusher’s success has always been discussed among knowledgeable breeders.

Also of note the FULL sister to Elvis Pusher, Priscilla Pusher has also made an impact on the show ring which is further evidence of the strength of pedigree. Priscilla Pusher is most notable for being the dam of WGC We’re Jammin The Blues, Res. World Champion The Jazz Player, top show horses Sky’s Dressed In Diamonds, Master of The Sky, Promised Pusher,  and All Shook Up WTC. Again the strength of this pedigrees production of show horses is without argue.

A Dollar For Linda Tripp, the dam of The Memphis Blues, herself is a prolific producer of show horses. Her foals in addition to World Champion The Memphis Blues include World Grand Champion Folsom Prison Blues, Dollar A Yard (the dam of WC I’m Viva La Vita and A Rio Rita), Bold Dollar (Dam of WGC Slingblade), A Jigger Of Gin and I’m Johnny Lee both Top 5 Finishers at The Celebration.

The Memphis Blues show ring career came under the direction of Phillip Trimble during his formative and Two Year Old years. As a Three and Four Year Old Charlie Green guided the show career of The Memphis Blues. As a Two and Three Year Old he was a Top 3 finisher in both the stallion preliminaries at The Celebration. He was also a top 3 finisher in the 2016 Three Year Old World Grand Championship. He was a Top 5 finisher as a Four Year Old at The Celebration. When he turned Five, The Memphis Blues returned to Phillip Trimble Stables. As a Five Year Old he attained his first World Championship with Robert Deutsch aboard at the 2018 Celebration.

The Memphis Blues brings one of the strongest pedigrees to the breeding barn. His family is noted for their great back-ends and “Old School” Walking Horse gait. “Shaking and Walking” are their forte’. His genetic propensity to produce flashy sabino colored offspring will also be a plus for breeders. Please consider The Memphis Blues as a choice for your best mares.
