2018 Edition of The Yearling Gathering a Huge Success!
The 2018 edition of The Yearling Gathering at Rising Star Ranch has been a huge success. During the Celebration 50 yearlings were sold for over $300,000. These yearlings were sired by many of the stallions that stand at Rising Star Ranch and others sired by popular stallions of our breed. Our top 5 yearlings averaged well over any of the highest yearlings we have sold in the past.
A few of highlights from our sale was the purchase of Illuminstar.
Illuminstar is a yearling son of Jose’ Jose’ and out of an Out On Parole daughter whose dam was the great Pusher’s Evening Star. Illuminstar was purchased by Dr. Barbra Moersch and consigned by Howard Eastridge.
Another highlight was the purchase of O’Charlie.
O’ Charlie is the full brother to WC HRH Prince Charles and Leading Rider Cup Two Year Old mare for 2018 HRH Princess Charlotte (who was sold at the 2017 Yearling Gathering). O’ Charlie was consigned by Dr. Charlene Cook and purchased by The John Callicutt Family and The Danny Hicks Family.
One yearling is headed overseas, Rainy Day Blues CF, a blue roan son of The Confederate Blue, consigned by Ronnie Green of Confederate Farms is headed to Israel.
The youngest buyer during The Yearling Gathering was Ella Abernathy who purchased Miss Stride Kode Blue as her first Tennessee Walking horse purchase.
According to Rising Star Ranch Breeding Manager David Williams, “ I haven’t seen this much excitement in the yearling market in many years. The quality of the yearlings we are seeing in all classifications are at their highest. Our breeders have had a great selling year with many weanlings and yearlings selling in 2018. Not only did we do well at Rising Star, reports from other yearling sale centers during the Celebration reported similar results. I can conservatively say our numbers included with the numbers from 3 other yearling sale centers have had total sales which easily surpassed 1.2 million during the 2018 Celebration.”
