The story of Justified Honors begins at the same farm where the story of his sire Honors began. There must be something special in the grass at 177 Co. Rd. 150 Moulton Alabama. Justified Honors was bred foaled and raised by Brian Anderton for owner Dr. Robert C. Watkins of Chicago Heights Illinois. He ran and played in the same pastures that his great sire Honors also first tested his legs and took his first great steps. Originally named Maypine’s Chauncey, Justified Honors comes from the top breeding program of Dr. Watkins that has also produced multi Reserve World Champion Kinfolk (Originally Maypines #3) and top contender Maypine’s Barack.
At 18 months of age Justified Honors left his birthplace for the first time and was delivered to the stables of Dustin Smith to begin his training. After seeing how this tall son of Honors was developing and the potential he had he was then relocated to Carl Edwards and Sons Stables for further training. He eventually ended up at Layne Leverette Stables where he caught the eye of top colt investor Jeff Faulkner. Jeff purchased Justified Honors and continued his training at Layne Leverette’s. It was a short time of about 2 months at Layne Leverette Stables that he got the attention of John Allan Callaway. Originally there to look at another colt John Allan knew this horse was special and after a call he became the property of Lisa Baum.
It was under the Callaway banner that things really began to fall into place for Chauncey. Unshown his two-year-old season, he made his debut performance and victory at the Columbia Spring Jubilee and then shortly after to the Spring Fun Show where he gained his 2nd victory. Chauncey was unanimous on both occasions. At the 2020 Celebration he with John Allan Callaway aboard became the 2020 World Champion Three Year Old Stallion with all 5 first place votes, he went on to become the 2020 Reserve World Grand Champion Three Year Old for 2020 with one judge placing him first.
Justified Honors four year old season began with a unanimous victory at the Spring Fun Show and Fourth of July weekend victory at Woodbury. There was already talk of a four year old stepping up to the Big Stake. It has happened in recent years and Justified Honors consistency of performance and his great ability easily generated that talk.
At the 2021 Celebration Justified Honors was named World Champion Four Year Old Stallion and then it was decided to prepare him for the last class before Labor Day. His performance in the Championship again had his trademark of consistency and showcased his extreme talent. He was unanimously chosen as the 2021 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse.
What lies ahead for Chauncey? He will begin to pass on his talent this fall as we prepare his first season at stud. Being sired by Honors and out of a FULL sister to World Grand Champion Boure’ his pedigree will be well received by knowledgeable breeders. His 3rd dam also produced 2003 World Champion Two Year Old, The Ivy League, so his family’s success should continue through his offspring.
Justified Honors returned to the Celebration show ring in 2022 and became the 2022 World Champion Aged Stallion and The 2022 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse for a second consecutive year.
Justified Honors returned to the Celebration show ring AGAIN in 2023 and became the 2023 World Champion Aged Stallion and the 2023 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse for a second consecutive year. Only 2 other horses in the history of The Celebration have won 3 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse titles. Talk of the Town in 1951,1952 and 1953; I Am Jose’ in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and now Justified honors in 2021, 2022 and 2023!
