In 2013 Rising Star Ranch had their First Annual Yearling Gathering. We tried new ways of selling yearlings as opposed to the traditional auction sales. We provided all the information on each yearling on their stall doors including a “Buy Me Now” Price and a minimum bid. Yearlings were shown to buyers and their trainers at a time convenient for them day or night. A buyer could also see the yearlings for sale at liberty without the intrusion of a handler so you could determine exactly the gait of that individual yearling.

“We have gotten great feedback on our methods and this format resulted in the following yearling averages:

2015 was a great comeback year for the yearling seller.” stated David Williams, Breeding and Sale Manager at Rising Star Ranch. “The quality of yearlings were very high this year and the supply limited. I’m hearing of great prices on yearlings from all the reporting sales and many private transactions. The year 2015 was definitely a seller’s market. I expect to see an increase in breeding during the next season as a result of these good numbers.”

Williams added, “2015 was the first year Walk Time Charlie colts have been available and they were in high demand and drove many prices up. I am very pleased with this year’s results and look forward to another great sale in 2016 when we will have the first I Am Jose’s available.”
