Star of Ritz has been one of the most discussed young horses in recent years. He is the result of crossing the legendary He’s Puttin’ On The Ritz with former show mare Tarheel’s Star of Jose’. Tarheel’s Star of Jose’ was a FULL sister to Three Time World Grand Champion I Am Jose’. Star of Ritz was the only foal of Tarheel’s Star of Jose’, she passed away when he was a week old.
From the breeding prowess of Bob Rollins, Star of Ritz has a pedigree of production that’s beyond compare. His 2nd dam Pride’s Angelique has produced 8 different show horses including the dam of Star of Ritz, the incomparable I Am Jose’, Tarheel’s Miss Dumas (who also produced WGC A.C.C.), and top show horse U.N.C. just to name a few. He also comes from the last crop of colts by his legendary sire World Grand Champion He’s Puttin’ On The Ritz.
Started in training under the guidance of Mike Hannah the talent of Star of Ritz as a green two year old was quite evident by the many six figure offers for his purchase. Purchased by Herb Murrath before his two year old birthday, Star of Ritz has been and continues to be under Herb Murrath’s ownership. Although a victor in his first show ring appearance; minor injuries and inconsistent work due to the same kept Star Of Ritz from achieving early success in the show ring.
It was during the show season of 2018 that Star Of Ritz truly shined. Now under the guidance of Casey Wright who rode Star of Ritz’s “Uncle” to 3 World Grand Championship titles, Star Of Ritz went undefeated in 7 different show ring appearances including a Four Year Old Stallion World Championship and becoming Four Year Old World Grand Champion.
Now retired to the breeding shed at Rising Star Ranch, the anticipation is high regarding Star of Ritz’s ability as a sire. I Am Jose’ has proven himself as a great sire in a very short time. With the influence of He’s Puttin’ On The Ritz and the same bloodlines of I Am Jose’ we hope to see Star Of Ritz have the same phenomenal success.
Beauty, Pedigree, Determination and Enormous Talent; this best describes Star Of Ritz.
